[Non tech] The state of government and media in India

I am a techie, involved in my work and not much into politics. But the current state of affairs compel me to speak out.

The ruling BJP government does not seem to have a clue on how to handle the crises in our country. The economy is in a slow down, farmer suicides are still happening, the law and order situation is a mess, and the country is facing a humanitarian crisis in Kashmir (40 days lock down after Article 370 abrogation).

Meanwhile the mainstream media is turning a blind eye to these issues and diverting attention, trying to divide the country between Hindu – Muslim, and causing communalism. Anyone who questions the government is tagged anti Hindu or anti national.

Some gems from our current politicians

Finance minister: Millennial mindset of using Ola and Uber is responsible for Automobile industry crisis! Do the facts bear her out?

Commerce minister: On discussing how the country will achieve $ 5,000,000,000,000 economy, says no need to focus on the numbers, maths never helped Einstein discover Gravity!?  Discovery of Gravity ft. Union Minister Piyush Goyal (BJP)

What to do about it

  1. Spread awareness. The more the people realize what is happening, the more likely they can do something about it.
  2. Ask questions. Ask questions of people in authority. Why are we facing this issue? What steps are you taking to remedy it?
  3. Vote for people who care. Find a candidate who has done good work in your constituency and vote for them. If you dont find anyone worthy, try to create awareness and stand yourself if possible. If all else fails, vote NOTA (None of the Above).

Addendum

Came across a great video which explains the idea of India, and how the current BJP government is trying to rule over us using divisive tactics, just like the British Raj did 150 years ago – Sanjay Rajoura on Decoding India
